I am a novice dog owner and I have to say this book has helped me tremendously with the most important period of the dog's life- puppyhood. This is my favorite "puppy guide" in my large library of puppy and dog training books I have bought over the last year. All I can say is wow! I can LIVE with my puppy
Orginally, I purchased 3 books on training new puppies. "How to Raise A Puppy You Can Live with" is the only book I would recommend. And I do highly recommend it. I found it to be interesting and descriptive, but also an easy read, with language for the lay audience. The book details the growth of a puppy, at which ages to expect certain results, training methods at different age levels, and methods to punish a puppy without being cruel (like ignoring your puppy, which gets them begging for your love and acceptance). The book is filled with tons of advice on situations that will be encountered along the way of raising your puppy.

These tiny puppies are absolutely the cutest little things ever to hit the market!! I purchased to top cupcakes with, for my daughter's 7th Bday...I am now purchasing more so she can have the entire set! They are a hard rubber (not plastic, so they will not break when dropped on the ground, etc.) you will be very pleased with these...I love them and my daughter is thrilled!!

Precision Pet Puppy Pen
When I ordered the Precision Pet Puppy Pen, I didn't really feel there was a difference between this brand and another. After setting it up, I can see a big difference. The Precision is much sturdier and if you have to close the top, the curved latches line up property, not askewed like my other less expensive pen. Also, the pan that I set beneath the pen slides in and out effortlessly, but the rims on the pan on the cheaper pen are bent out and are almost too large to fit in between the four "feet" on the bottom of the pen. You have to stretch the pen to make sure the feet are on the outside of the pen.

Best Puppy Pen Ever Made!!!
This Precision Puppy Pen is great.I raise small puppies and I own 10 of these in different sizes.They open from the top and have a front door.The top opening feature is great for puppies,so they cant come piling out.When they potty it goes straight down to the bottom away from them through the floor grate.They are big enough for them to have a big bed,food and water and a potty area.Also fold completely flat for storage.Easy to clean and maintain.I would reccomend these to anyone with puppies.They also make a great and spacious pen for small adult dogs.Not small and confined like a crate.I give this product an A+++++ Rating.

Excellent crate for new puppies
We used this to keep new beagle puppies in, until they were old enough to go to their adoptors. The cage itself folds easily and having the ceiling was critical to keeping them in (they love to climb!). The only thing I didn't like were the pans that sit underneath the pen. Since there are two of them, there is a gap between them where waste can seep through. I just used newspaper to cover that gap, which worked fine. Other than that it is a good product.

I can't speak to the reading level classification, but the author has used repetition throughout and a mix of word difficulty. Good book to read aloud to little ones, too, as it is short enough to hold their attention. Looks great on my Kindle Fire....

Most adorable photos ever!
This is the sweetest little book about puppies. The photographs are so adorable. I felt like running out and buying a puppy. My kids love the pictures in this book also. From the learning to read perspective, I would say this book is probably best suited to a child that already reads quite a few site words. This wouldn't be good for a just beginning reader. That being said it it appropriately levels at reading level 2. The book is fairly short - 13 pages of reading. I would say this is a pretty good length for this level of reader. There are approximately 2 sentences per page and quite a few 2 syllable words. A lot of the words are repeated again and again which is great in early readers.

puppies need adult help
This is a cute game set, but all 10 games you can play require an adult or older child to help. Reading is required. It says ages 4+ but there is a lot of set up which is hard for young children. We spent more time setting up than playing most games but my daughter did enjoy playing. I would recommend this for an older child playing with the little ones.

Fun adventure for little ones
we purchased this for our little girls who love to go on adventure walks outside - and wanted to have a fun alternative when it is too cold/rainy etc to head outdoors. Great fun! They love searching for the puppies and you can make it as easy or as difficult as you like (so it's great for little ones and bigger kids).Highly recommend this one :)

This is a great book
When we got our new puppy I bought my 4 yr old twins this book. They LOVED it so much they took it to pre-school to have the teacher read it to all of thier friends. I like how it taught them to think of how the puppy is feeling and what puppies need.

Brittany puppies
Personally, we loved this book BECAUSE of the pictures. We didn't really care about the story. Purchased a copy for my son and another for my husband. As owners of Brittanys for many years, we were in love with the pictures of the pups. Incidently, Welsh Springers have dark noses and Brittany's have pinkish eraser colored noses as these dogs clearly do. We are expecting a litter in a couple of weeks and I plan on purchasing copies for each of the new pup's new families to enjoy. It is not often that you can find something really special with your breed featured, so we were delighted with the book. If you want to believe that these are Welsh Springers, well I hope you enjoy the book as much as we do.

Where Can I buy Puppies

when I get my dogs I always ask me vet for a breeder, they can give really good recomendations as to good healthy dogs and breeders. Make sure the puppies come with health guarantees and in writing and make sure it is clear. Dogs are born with energy or drives – Low and medium energy is a dog that will be more submissive – those pups that move away from the higher energy dog who control with dominance. If a breeder trys to sell them to you under 8 weeks then they are not a good breeder and do not care about the care of the puppy. If you’re buying a purebred puppy from a breeder, make sure its dewclaws have been removed. If most of the puppies run away from you, don’t buy one. When looking at the puppies look how the pups interact. I ask general breed questions a good breeder should always be able to tell you breed history and standards. Shy puppies almost always grow up to be shy adults. If the litter is behaving normally, look at each of the puppies individually. Healthy puppies shouldn’t cough, sneeze, or wheeze. Young puppies might have blue eyes that will change with age. You can tell by asking questions, Usually I ask how long have you been breeding. Look for a breeder who is breeding for the love of the breed and not for the money. Healthy puppies should be happy and playful. You want to make sure you are with a breeder that cares.

Beagle rescue is going to have a rough time in the years ahead as a lot of people will be buying dogs ‘just like Uno’ with no real clue as to how tough living with this breed can be. Reputable breeders will not sell their puppies (no matter the... Research the breed, contact some of the breeders who are listed on the NBCA site and meet some of them…attend a dog or two and meet some owners and breeders. There is a lot of information on this site, please take the time to really read though their many pages of information — like a puppy buyers guide and looking for a puppy. If the Beagle is the right little dog for you, you’ll then be ready to deal with raising one and many Beagle fanciers would be willing to help you find a good, healthy puppy. There are several on-line sites that will do just what you’re asking for — and that puppy will be coming from a puppy mill. Contact other people who have purchased puppies from the breeder. The puppies that are paid for and shipped from pet stores more than likely come from puppy mills. Several news stations have done stories on it because of how big it is. People think that they are paying for a dog and really you are giving people in “Africa” your money and you don’t know about it for weeks. They can give you a good idea about the kinds of dogs he sees from a specific breeder and aren’t likely to be in cahoots with a puppy mill operation. Buying a puppy on-line is the worst idea ever. As an earlier post noted, if pet shops didn’t take credit cards it could end puppy mills…and that’s probably 95% true. The shelters have just as good pure breds as the online or local pet stores.

According to current USDA regulation only 5 puppies per year may be sold to a store by anyone not carrying a USDA license, and there is no way that any municipality is going to allow a USDA license in a residential zone, the only breeders that... For now, I would like to say that those of you who think you know all about what should be, are you really as involved with dogs as the actual good breeders, who spend most of their time with dogs, raising dogs, doing everything in their power and... Even you will never be able to have a dog that can have puppies instead with government intervention you will have no choice but to buy from a store. Answer by tangerine Screaming about stopping puppy mills will NEVER stop pet stores from selling puppies. Please do not try and stop pet stores or over regulate breeding it will only cause the government to create mass commercial breeding not better breeding or better dogs. That is terrible for dogs because USDA regulation call for impervious to water surfaces and facilities which remove dogs from homes and bedrooms. If you support restrictive laws I think you have not paid attention to what is really going on. I think it is time you join Pet-law and learn a bit more about exactly what the consequences of what you are saying would be for dogs. Obviously it’s going to take more than telling people “don’t buy a puppy at a pet store” for this madness to stop.

In fact, ASPCA did encourage buying puppies and cats from shelter as about 3-4 million cats and puppies are being killed each year as they are literally homeless.
