Beautiful!!
My daughter received this as a gift for her 4th birthday, she loves dressing the paper doll fairies and they are stunningly beautiful. The outfits are also gorgeous with lots of detail and there is a pocket in the back of the book to hold all the outfits in. This is the ideal gift for when a classmate has a birthday party, it is unique, inexpensive and encourages imaginative play. These paper dolls are not princesses, they are woodland fairies. They are unique and beautiful, not the same old gawdy princess-vapor stuff you see at Walmart and the like.

Beautiful and Fun
My 8 year old daughter loves these paper dolls. They are of high quality and the illustration style is just beautiful. We have a lot of Cicely Mary Barker stuff and these are true to the beauty of the original books. I would recommend them for any little girl (or boy! There are boy fairies in here too) who loves fairies.

Great Quality
Sturdy for a paper doll, the dolls and clothes are 2 sided. the clothes fit over the head and connect at the bottom. 4 paper dolls, 8 outfits. There is a page of accessories and inside the back cover there is a moderate sized envelope to keep it all in. I bought this to decorate my toddler daughters room with; however my 9 year "grown up" niece fell in love, so I'll have to buy another. My favorite part of these fairies is their modesty and innocence. And of course their detail.

Lots of fun
I gave this to my granddaughter on her 5th birthday. Her mother had already been reading her the primary Little House books. She was a big fan of them so she was thrilled to get the paper dolls so she could act out some of the stories she had been hearing. This probably wouldn't be much fun for a kid who had not heard the Little House stories or a kid who has no imagination. But for my granddaughter, it was the perfect gift!

We liked it!
I bought this for my 7 year-old daughter for Christmas. She really liked the dolls, and we thought the backgrounds and the pockets for the dolls were great. The only problem is that even though the dolls are punch-outs, the clothes have to be cut out very precisely with scissors, so she needed a lot of help with that.

Absolutely brilliant
I bought these for my daughter aged 5, but I have found that both my 5 and 7 year are obsessed with these dolls. Its 5 months now since I gave them to her, and still (beyond one very beneficial Christmas!) they return time and time again to hours of play with the paper dolls. Amazing doesn't begin to describe this book!
I just got this in the mail this morning and love it even more than I was expecting. As a lifelong paperdoll lover, I'm still in happy awe that a book like this was even made -- it really is absolutely delightful from cover to cover. All the finished paperdolls are creative and unique (and adorable, obviously). The customizable ones are so fabulous I can't wait to make our 'family portrait!' In fact, I'm seriously contemplating getting another copy to keep 'in tact' while I cut up this copy, it's just that much beautiful fun. The projects that are for the paper dolls -- a stage, armoire, etc.-- also look great. I'm envisioning many lovely hours spent with my daughter this thanksgiving and Christmas vacation. She was my excuse to buy this book, but really I would have bought it anyway! Thank you Emily!

Charming and Imaginative
When I saw Emily Martin's The Black Apple's Paper Doll Primer, I was instantly transported back to my childhood. Emily is a #1 handmade seller on Etsy.com and her shop, The Black Apple, enjoys quite a following. She's now bringing her creativity to the Paper Doll Primer book, which is chock full of dolls, clothes, craft projects, scrapbooking tips, and much more! The Black Apple's Paper Doll Primer starts out with 20 characters created by Emily, each complete with a back story to spark one's imagination. There's the adorable Cora in a sailor dress who enjoys "looking over the night ocean", the woodsman Henry who "prefers honey to syrup", and many more. LOVE the artwork! Lots of great ideas and projects to keep a young lady (or young at heart!) busy for hours on end. I especially love the Siamese twins paper doll and the sweet little background stories for each character;) However, you may want to plan to scan/copy the dolls on thicker paper so they will last longer and not be too flimsy, this is why I give the book four stars, despite it's marvelous-ness and unique artwork. If it was printed on a thicker paper I would give it a 5+!!

If you love Shirley, the cutest child star, you will definately want this in your collection. This would make a great gift too. I enjoyed this book and the outfits are great. You can dress Shirley in the outfits that you have seen her in. Remember the pink dress? She can wear it forever. Children who are two young for Shirley's time will still enjoy this product. Dress up is always fun to play...this way you don't have to clean up all your clothes from your childs room!

Lovely nostalgia...
If you grew up with paper dolls, like I did, you will love this one. The doll and the clothes are printed on high quality thick, glossy paper, and a cut out stand is included in the book. You do not have to be a fan of Shirley Temple to love this book - I am not, but I do love these old fashioned children's clothes, with their ribbons and ruffles and pleats. Great book for those interested in the history of fashion too!
