Mandatory Read
Take this to heart. I have been playing for 16 years this Christmas. For the first seven years I experimented with different brands and gauges. These were the strings I settled on after all that experimentation and I have never looked back. Slinky 9's are ALL I have bought for the past nine years. There are two types of electric guitar strings: Expensive and cheap. NEVER buy cheap strings. They sound too bright and about one out of twenty will break when you wind them up. Expensive strings are a little more complicated. The durability factor is much better with expensive strings. About one out of eighty will break. The difference between the expensive brands is in the sound. Some are "tinny" or bright. Some sound like bass strings tuned way up. With that said, Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9's have what I call a "V" voicing. It's like they have a little equalizer built in set to a good rock setting. You know, boost the mids and highs and roll back the mids. THESE... are the only strings...

Simple and Effective
I've been playing the guitar for 20 years, and I've tried a lot of different strings. Across all of the different options that are available, I'm convinced that there are really two variables that control 95% of the sound:1) String gauge. Suck it up and buy the 11's. You will *not* get the tone that heavy strings deliver with pedals, rack effects, or other widgets. Yes, you fingers will hurt if you've been playing .009's. No, you will not regret it once you get used to it.2) String age. Change your strings when they start to sound bad. It's a pain, but even good technique and heavy strings can't make up for crusty, stretched-out, worn-out strings. Changing before every show is excessive. Use your ears; when the sparkle and crispness of new strings is gone, and the sound bothers you, then change your strings. That being said, I use Ernie Ball Slinkys pretty much exclusively these days. They're reasonably cheap, sound great, and are found in...

Love the Super Slinky strings!
My experience with guitar started in the 70s with a beat up acoustic my dad handed down to me. I was enthralled with the sounds of the guitar, but hated that giant hunk of junk. In the early 80s I got myself a job, tossed that pile of warped wood, and bought myself a Gibson electric. A friend quickly turned me on to GHS Boomers, which I used exclusively for probably 7-8 years. I had tried several other brands, but for me, the Boomers were the best.Well, the 90s came around, and my musical taste changed from alt-rock to a heavier sound. My preference transitioned from Gibson guitars through Orange and Mesa/Boogie amps to Jackson guitars through Marshall amps. Due to budgetary constraints, I switched to Carvin strings -- they used to be incredibly affordable -- but "discovered" the Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings when a guitar tech friend of mine restrung one of my super-strats for me, and that was that.So what do 'Slinkies' do?1. Bend forever...

GUITAR TECH REVIEW
Sorry about using my credentials in the title, but I want to convey how much experience I have with these strings. Sorry if I sound like an ad. I REALLY love these strings.I have strung literally thousands of guitars over my 40 years of repairing stringed instruments. D'Addario EJ16s are IMHO the best string money can buy- it is the standard of the industry for good reason... they're simply the best string available! D'Addario's corrosion-proof sealed bags ensure you get them as fresh as when they left the factory. Lower grade junky stings are shipped in simple paper envelopes and allow the strings to oxidize just sitting on the shelf or in your case. On the other hand, expensive hand made string, like DRs, are wrapped way too tightly, thus, have too much mass, so your intonation and rod will probably need to be readjusted. They also play stiffly. D'Addario uses the best steel and bronze alloy and wraps the wound strings with just the correct tension so the strings breathe...

These strings are perfect for any level or type of Guitarist.
I have played the Acoustic Guitar for eight years, maybe a little more than that. I started with standard Martin strings which I eventually found my hatred for. When I discovered these strings a few years back ago (most, if not all music stores I have visited have strung their Guitars with the D'Addario brand), I never looked back and have always used D'Addario. Only recently have I begun to use these Bronze Light sets, which I am completely infatuated with. Most of what I play consist of finger style / classical songs, and these strings are quite easy to tap with. I've never had any problems, and the strings themselves come with color coded ball points to indicate which string is which (for a quick and easy string changing). If tapping/finger style isn't your bag, these strings should still satisfy your needs. The Guitarist "Tim Reynolds" uses these very same strings on his Martin Guitars, and I can't emphasize more on how amazing the bottom (thickest) string sounds,...

Outstanding, consistent strings
I've used these strings for maybe 30 years -- and although on occasion I've tried other brands and other types (Martin, Dean Markley, Elixir, D'Addario EXPs) -- I always come back to these. They feel good, sound good, and are easy on the guitar and fingers. I found that they last as long as coated strings like EXPs and Elixirs and sound better. I like the little touches -- the anti-corrosion package, that strings are packaged one at a time (instead of 3 in one coil), colored ball ends, and even the Players Points that allow you to get stuff like T-shirts if you save enough string packages.I usually fingerpick and sometimes strum -- just your typical living room player who's too chicken to perform -- and I've used these with small body and dreadnaught Martins and Gibsons. If you buy these via a 3 pack or a 10 pack, you usually can get these for under $5 a set, and sometimes around $4 a set if there's a good deal running.

No need for a thousand dollar guitar
I have a 25 year old Yamaha FG-200D(Domestic model, made in Japan) acoustic guitar. When I bought it, it was around 200 - 250 USD. I always liked the way it sounded. It was always loud, bass rich, but a little dull in high tones. Recently I purchased a set of Elixir Nanoweb Light strings. Afterwards, it sounded so great that I won't change it for a thousand dollar worth Martin. I realized that the difference was not in high strings, it was the coated low ones which now sounds crystal clear and still rich. I strongly recommend to any acoustic player.

Oh yes
two things that will make this simple for everyone. First off I will never go back to anything else for acoustic and second the polyweb are great but I HIGHLY recommend the nano. The tone is beautiful, soft and they last forever. If you want a higher sound with more treble go for the polyweb.

love Elixir nanoweb
I have been using Elixir Nanoweb strings for almost two years, and won't buy anything else. What they say about long string life is absolutely true. With other strings, I needed to change them after any gig or jam session that went more than a couple hours. If I didn't, the strings sounded really, really dead. I used to change strings at least weekly, and sometimes more often. When I play Elixir strings, they sound great when I put them on, and they still sound pretty good when I change them 3-4 months later.

Elixir Nanoweb Acoustic Guitar Strings; Don't Mess around with An Ordinary String! Elixir Strings with ultra thin NANOWEB coating sound great 3 to 5 times longer than ordinary strings. All this and they still feel like traditional strings Elixir Nanoweb Acoustic String Features Great Sound that lasts 3 to 5 times longer than ordinary strings Bright tone and punch like that of non-coated strings The Same Feel you get from Traditional Strings What causes ordinary strings to go dead? You do. Every time you pick up your guitar and play, you leave tiny bits of dead skin, body oils, sweat, and all types of gunk loitering on your strings. Stuck between the windings (a space Elixir calls the Critical Zone of Tone ), these contaminants dampen vibration and accelerate corrosion. The result? Strings that are dead, rough and dirty. The Cure for the Common String. Elixir Strings are coated in a unique way to protect wound strings from your DNA and other contaminants. A flexible, strong, yet micro-thin polymer tube defends the Critical Zone of Tone from invading enemies. Nothing (including the coating) gets between the windings. The result? Strings that sound and feel their best three to five times longer than ordinary strings. The Choice is Yours Elixir Strings are available in two different flavors. Both deliver the same long life, but differ in tone and feel. Top to learn more

Great sound, good life span
Most guitarists I know tend to buy the typical 80/20 phosphor bronze strings. These are 92/8 phosphor bronze and it really does make for a nicer sounding string. The unwound E and B strings are bronzed. If you aren't into the nano-webb strings (I'm not)to get long life out of your strings, try these, the do last longer than the 80/20's. I use these on my D style as well as a Martin OOO, sound great on both for bluesy, fingerstyle playing.Keep on pickin'!!

Great sounding strings, not for beginners
These are medium strings, which means they're a heavier gauge than light. Heavier gauges will have fuller sound and sustain longer, but they're more difficult to fret and bend and will hurt your fingers more. So if you're just starting out with a full size dreadnought guitar buy some lights instead. That said, these pair very well with a short scale parlor guitar. The shorter scale means that the string tension is reduced, so medium strings will be more comfortable to use. Parlor guitars are smaller and have less natural power and projection than their larger cousins, so heavier gauge strings like these give them more presence. Just check with the manufacturer to make sure the bracing can handle medium strings. That goes for all acoustic guitars.

Great Strings
I settled on the D'Addario XLs sometime ago. I use them on a Telecaster (actually 2 of them). Great tone and they bend well with no breaking strings. They sound fantastic when they're first put on, and tend to settle in after about a week of playing. Tone stays nice and consistent until I change them which is every 4 to 6 weeks. I play daily and a total of about 8 to 10 hours a week. Peace.

Good Strings
These are excellent, inexpensive guitar strings. They are perfect for somebody that plays gigs and changes strings frequently. For the more casual player, that might practice at home three or four times a week, these might not be the best choice. For the gigging musician, there is nothing better than these D'Addario strings. They are light weight, have great sound, and are inexpensive. These might take a very slight nod over Ernie Ball strings. For the more casual musician, somebody that isn't changing their strings once a week, these are probably not a great choice. Personally, I use Elixir strings on my electric guitars, a Les Paul 2008 Standard and a 1982 Gibson Lucille. I do not play gigs, so a set of strings doesn't see an hour or two of really hard playing per night. The coating on Elixir's helps keep corrosion down and is easier on my fingers; I like their feel a bit better than these strings. I get about a month of playing from those strings. Sadly, these...
