Postives Far Outweigh Negatives
GQ presents a difficult paradox of a magazine. There are many reasons to dislike GQ: Its pretentiousness, the focus on unobtainable clothing, the holier-than-thou writing.But, there are so many positives about GQ that a subscription is not only recommended, it is almost required. First, and perhaps foremost, Alan Richman's food/restaurant columns. Second, Peter Bart (the once-deposed editor of Variety) writes a great Hollywood column. Third, GQ is far and away superior to its rivals, which I believe are Esquire and, somewhat surprisingly, Vanity Fair.Fourth, the fashion features and celebrity interviews are beyond compare. Finally, GQ generally has one article a month that I would describe as investigative journalism, and these articles can't be missed.All in all, GQ is an essential for any magazine rack.

I thought I'd hate a magazine app, but I love it!
"Why in the world are they making us download an app to read a magazine?" is exactly what I asked. I wasn't sure what the answer was. Perhaps it was for spyware or tracking or a way to get around us going easily to our Amazon Kindle managing page to cancel our subscription... I wasn't sure. But I get it now (or at least I have my theory on the app).The Kindle Fire (what I use) and other Android devices are a little bit longer in dimension than a magazine (more rectangular and closer in the dimensions of an 8x11 sheet). Whenever I read a magazine on my Kindle Fire, I have to use the zoom functions to read text pages like the intro editorial page. Then I have to pan around once I get the size I like it to be to read. BUT WITH THE APP, the magazine creators have lined up the text so nicely and legibly that I don't have to zoom and pan around an ill-fitting-for-my-Fire page. Instead, I just scroll down as if reading one long easy-to-read column. I love it. I really do...

75 years old now, and still going strong
In their memorable October 2008 issue, celebrated their 75th anniversary. To commemorate the event they published an experimental limited-edition of the issue that featured something called electronic ink, with moving words and flashing images. My copy wasn't one of the lucky ones, but it was proof that this venerable publication wasn't behind the times. This had been a magazine that I had previously bought the occasional issue to read in airport terminals while traveling, or in lobbies while waiting to keep an appointment. Had often thought about subscribing, but for one reason or another hadn't done it. I subscribed during one of those opportunities here on Amazon when the price was too good to pass up, and am glad that I did. Woman Enjoys This Magazine
This is not just a magazine for men. I'm a woman and I enjoy the articles in this magazine. I recently read an article about a foreign journalist who wrote about a serial murderer who may have been the murderer himself. That was fascinating. There are also really good in-depth interviews of interesting men. I've also found good leads for books to read, music to listen to and movies to watch. My husband has me buy his clothes so even all the clothing ads are not wasted on me. I am enjoying ESQUIRE a lot more than most women's magazines.

The Backwoods Home Family
I have been a subscriber for about ten years now and this is the only magazine I keep. Every issue is full of useful information, some for right now, and some for future reference. Practical and down to earth, this magazine is also extremely well written and well edited. Not only is the choice of subject matter both diverse and well thought out, but the articles are uniformly easy to follow. I think one of the very best things about BHM is the sense of family which the staff and subscribers share. I wait for each issue, not just for the great information it contains, but to see what some of my favorite people have been up to. If you only subscribe to one magazine, this should be the one!

Wired Kindle
I'm using this app on my Kindle Fire, and i've been extremely impressed so far. After reading some mediocre reviews of various magazines performing poorly on the Fire, I went ahead and gave this a shot along with the free 3 month trial. So far, i'm pretty happy with the current issue. It looks wonderful, and I don't have any major issues with performance when scrolling down pages or moving in between them. It might not be as smooth as higher end tablets, but it's hardly a detriment either. The link to videos are great, and make it a very engrossing experience while looking sharp and wonderful on the Kindle Fire. Definitely recommended for fans of the magazine.
