A blast from the past
Never haven played any Fallout games before, I didn't know what to expect. I knew they were most likely great games after hearing PC Gamer magazine go on about the greatness of the original Fallout games all the time. Even then, I underestimated the games. I started playing Fallout and found that it was fun, addicting, and really immersive. The world's are beautifully crafted and will make you wish YOU lived in the post-apocalyptic world. The story's are great in all the games. Each character has their own original personality. And being made ten years ago, they are perfect netbook games. You don't need me to tell you these games are great, just buy it. You won't be dissappointed.P.S. Despite what other people might tell you, there is no DRM. No disc is required to play (also a plus for netbooks) and there are unlimited installs. But hey, it's only twenty dollars. Why pirate it?

Fun. The purpose of games....remember?
If you don't mind the limitations of a 1980s program, this is a great package. If you haven't ever played the fallout series, I envy you. You may be in for a pleasant surprise. A lot of love when into these games. They are not just "good for the time", they are just plain good. The original fallout was a winner. Fallout 2 was even better in many ways. Both of them were very absorbing with a lot of replay-ability. Both quickly developed a fanatical following. Fallout Tactics is not really the same kind of game. I believe it was a result of lots of fans screaming for a sequel. It's basically a 3rd person shoot-em-up and not in the same league with the first two, but still lots of fun.In fallout and fallout 2, Your actions determine how others react to you. You can play the game as a shooter, or a talker, or evil, or nice. Each type of play is not only possible, they are all fun. Both Games have a fairly straightforward story line with a few cool...

Be Careful What You Order!!!
I ordered Fallout Trilogy from a Private Seller through Amazon. What I recieved was the European Version. Both the Images (Box Art) and certain Reviews conflict with each other. If you plan on ordering from a Private Seller make sure they have their product placed correctly. One is distributed through White Label (European Version), the other by Interplay (US Version). Aside from the distributer, the European Box Art is different from that of the US. The main contrast in the UK Version is the removal of children. This takes away from the original game as well as removing certain quests. Aside from that, if it's important to you, some Violence Animations are removed and a minor Language filter is present. Although not completly unplayable, if you are like me you want your game as it was intended by the developers.

A great deal. Must buy if you've never tried Fallout 3 before.
This is the 3rd time I've tried Fallout 3, and I must say, the third time's a charm.I didn't like this game the first or the second time, but granted I gave it only a couple of hours each time. I last bought this game in June, but returned it when I heard about the GOTY edition a few days later. The GOTY does come with 2 discs, Disc One is the gameplay for Fallout 3, which looks virtually unchanged, except on the actual disc itself where it says "Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition". Besides that, there's little to no difference. Disc 2 has all the DLC, including the last installment; Mothership Zeta. The instruction manual is a new one for GOTY, and instructs you to install disc 2 to your hard drive, before playing if you've never played Fallout 3, or do not have a current save file. However I didn't read it, and played about 3 hours of disc one before I noticed. I installed disc 2 (About 10 minutes, give or take), and everything was fine. I got the...

Bethesda Strikes Again
In 2007, I purchased Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Game of the Year Edition) after finally jumping into this generations gaming systems. Close to 400 hours later, I decided that game was the best value for my money in terms of content, quality, and overall fun that I would ever play.I was wrong. My wife purchased me Fallout 3 in 2008 as an anniversary gift; she knew I'd played the original Fallout games and really enjoyed Oblivion with me, so it was a great gift. To say that I was stunned and enraptured with Fallout 3 would be an understatement; I've played this game with regularity for over a year. It is a huge, expansive, detailed, life-like world with so much to do and see that each time through you can find more and more surprises that you may have missed previously. Toss in all 5 DLCs at a mere $60, and this game is pushing 150 hours of game time just for one play through. This is an incredibly involved game and isn't for everyone; its the kind...

Best "Game of the Year" value--maybe ever
I played through Fallout 3 and beat it and reached level 20 back when it first came out. It was well worth my time then. I got hours and hours of fun gameplay out of it then.I eventually auctioned it and got half my money back but I'll buy this version, and STILL feel like I'm getting a good deal. There's fifty-dollars worth of DLC included in this package. If you consider that, along with another 10 bucks for the standalone game, this might very well be the best video game deal since "The Orange Box." Compared to Oblivion, which only came with two expansions--and how about Left 4 Dead, which included the FREE DLC for their "GOTY" edition. As for the game? It's stellar. I enjoyed it a lot more than Oblivion. I'm not a huge RPG fan but great action RPGs like this and Mass Effect are first rate. If you haven't played Fallout 3, you should get this copy. It's a one-of-a-kind experience.

The Pale Courier with a Fistful of Bottle Caps: Fallout 3 Redone Right with a Vegas Flavor
To most gamers, like myself, the Fallout franchise remained completely off the radar until Fallout 3 in 2008 despite previous hype. Even with the strong feeling that Bethesda Game Studios just copy/pasted the gaming template from Oblivion onto Fallout 3 and just made everything look crapier, Fallout 3 still captivated many new fans to the franchise ultimately leading to the strong number of pre-orders and subsequent sales of Fallout: New Vegas a few weeks ago. After obtaining the game on release night and putting in almost 70 hours since then (it's November 11th as I type this, so I've had it for only a few weeks, you do the math), I can safely say I will easily put in triple the amount of hours before I'm done. To compare, I put in over 200 hours to get 100% completion on Fallout 3. Fallout: New Vegas is a great game that I will continue to enjoy till I get 100% completion... but the game is not without its horrible faults.Let us begin!Story...

good yet broken game
Fallout: New Vegas is a a great game marred by some bad programming. And that does not even make sense because Obsidian only re-skinned the Fallout 3 engine for the most part with a few minor upgrades. Bottom line is they puched it out to meet a deadline they knew they were not ready for.The game itself is good but the programming is merely a few steps above unplayable. In less than a week after launch they had to patch the XBOX 360 version to deal with like 200 bugs that were (as Obsidian states) "not present during testing". Bullcrap. And there are still issues that make the game absolutely frustrating to play.* The game leaks data constantly causing lagging and freezing issues that require a restart of the system every few hours of playing.* Many people I know have issues with the game randomly freezing during an autosave which corrupts the save file.* People are experiencing autosaves into bugs (stuck in walls for 1 example) that you have to go...

Good game, but freezes often
I bought this for my son and he has enjoyed it as a follow up to the other Fallout. Unfortunatly, the game locks up and needs to be rebooted fairly regularly which takes away from the game play. Not sure what the problem is, but others seem to have had the same issue. Had we not pre-ordered the game, I don't think we would have purchased this game knowing what we know now. Hopefully a patch or software update will be released to fix this otherwise great game.

All Roads Lead Home
There's one crucial element that's somehow gone missing from most modern RPGs: the actual ability to role-play. You can play as Commander Shepard, but you can't do anything a Spectre wouldn't do. You can play as Geralt of Rivia, but you can't do anything a Witcher wouldn't do. Developers have *developed* a nasty habit of creating games that force players into a role and then tell them that they're role-playing. Maybe you are, but in that case I think our definitions might differ. The opening moments of FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS see you shot in the head and left buried in a shallow grave somewhere in the Mojave Desert. Somehow still clinging to life, you're rescued and brought to the town of Goodsprings, where the local doctor fixes you up and sends you on your way. This is where the magic of the game reveals itself, because you have a few options here: Investigate the reasons why you were shot; Set out to get revenge on the people who left you for dead; Stick around and help out...

This game is home
This game seems to divert from what made Fallout 3 so revolotionary as far as level design... instead of a predominantly urban environment, you'll find yourself basically in a desert. This in of itself isn't bad, cause with the 'Hardcore' setting and how it encuorages you to play, it really comes together in a completely different experience then it's predecessor, with equal to greater merit! I have gotten the first 3 DLC at launch (I'll be getting the last one soon enough), and what justifies their cost is a priceless surrealist experience that can't simply be described... I played the first DLC under the influence and I would say didn't so much as 'played' the game as opposed to having 'lived' it. This game for it become enjoyable requires your investment in time and emotional involvement... some of the places I saw and gotten to experience in this game preside happily as one of the most enjoyable and serene moments of my gaming life.Also... there's a overall thematic...

THE BRAND NEW POSTAPOCALYPTIC DAWN IS NOW COMPLETE!
I am old enough to have played the original game when it first came out in 1997. I was a great fan of the series that followed and, thus, was very eager to get my hands on this latest installment. In a short sentence: FALLOUT-3 is A DREAM COME TRUE! And now the dream is complete. It is a cRPG game in which the player can alternate between the First and Third person perspective roaming a world comparable in size with OBLIVION. The action has moved from Vault 13 and Southern California to Vault 101 and Washington, D.C. and the story brakes away from the previous bloodlines. However, the atmosphere of the original has been maintained and its scents sharpened: veterans will find it fitting like and old glove - whereas the new gamers are in store for a bag of pleasant surprises. The graphics are wonderful, the guns detailed and the environments highly interactive. Short of a screenshot, imagine what would HalfLife-2 would look if released today. And similar to HL2,...

Great game. One of the best ever.
Fallout 3 is just an amazing game in every respect. If you're familiar with Bethesda's other RPGs, you will have a fair idea of what to expect. It is an open world "sandbox" RPG with elements of a FPS. When it was released a year ago, Fallout fans somewhat derisively called it "Oblivion with guns". Truth be told, on the surface, it is a very fair assessment of this game, but that's not a bad thing at all! It's definitely a similar kind of game, but the setting and humor are quite unique. At no time does it feel like any other game you've played before, other than the fact that it's got Bethesda's signature style all over it. There is so much to do in this game that you can easily get as much or more playtime as a normal game without even touching the main storyline quests. When you take into account the 5 add-on packs that come with this GOTY edition, the "bang to buck" ratio is increased quite a bit in favor of the bang. The add-on packs alone retail for the price of this...

Great game but may be a bit unstable if you're running Windows 7
I originally bought Fallout 3 back in 2008, and played it about 3/4ths of the way through. I loved it, but it's a huge game, and it's hard to find enough time to finish a game like this if you explore every possible area and do every side quest as I like to do.Fast forward to 2011. While looking for a new game for my PC, I saw the Game of the Year Edition (GOTYE), and noticed that it included the five add-on packs for the game, priced for under twenty dollars here on Amazon. If memory serves me correct, the add -on packs to the game were each around twenty dollars when first released. So, it was cheaper for me to buy this GOTYE than to try and get all of the add-ons.If you've played either Fallout 1 or 2, Fallout 3 is very much the same, and I mean that in a good way, even though it's produced by a different company (Bethesda rather than Interplay). It's added new tweaks and improvements, but these are more evolutionary rather than revolutionary, and...

Wait until a patch comes...That is, if one ever does.
To start off, I loved the base game of Fallout 3, I got it when it first came out, and sure it had its fair share of problems, but it was still great. And so the story continues with 5 new DLC's, which add new items and locations to your already large choosings. But alas, this game feels as though little to no testing was done in the game. It is plagued with glitches, frame rate issues, lag issues, freezing issues, amongst other annoying problems I hadn't experienced in my initial Fallout 3 experience. I believe that the game froze my PS3 at least 15 times across all 5 DLC's, this also included exploring some areas from the the original copy. These problems occur often, inspiring a new found hatred for the game. To be short, the problems are terrible, annoying, and large in number. But despite its problems, the game does manage to do a lot of things right:1) You can use you saves from the original copy if you still have them!2) New...

Fallout 3 + Every Expansion = Sheer Bliss (Except for the constant freezes!)
Original review published 10/14/2009:I pre-ordered this game from Amazon and it arrived right on the release date! I was very happy with that. Now, I had already been an owner of the base Fallout 3 game, and when I found out the GOTY edition was going to be released, which included all five "expansions" (Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout, Mothership Zeta), I knew I had to have it! This is especially considering PS3 owners had to sit back and wait while XBOX360 owners had them available months and months ago. Each of these expansions were selling for $10 for 360 owners, but now we can have the original game ($35) plus the DLC ($50 total) for $60 (total savings of $25). Not too shabby.People have a few concerns with loading time, crashing, and save files not carrying over. I haven't experienced any issues with crashing (my original Fallout 3 crashed once in my 30+ hours of gameplay), but perhaps I can help shed light on...

Fun game when you can play it...
The game works great until the game save file exceeds ~8MB and the cached game file exceeds about 6GB. When that happens you run into constant lockups, temporary freezes, and horrid frame rates whenever an enemy comes near you. You've seen the reviews. I don't have to tell you how great this game is, but Bethesda should flat out be ashamed for releasing the game in this state. I own both consoles, and much prefer getting things on the PS3 because I trust the hardware more than I do on my 3 time replaced 360, but in hindsight, I should have gotten the game for the 360 instead. If you own both consoles, that one seems to not have a freezing issue, most likely because it isn't relying on a game file cache on the HDD.I feel like I wasted 60$ on a game I can't even finish because of lockups...Thank you Bethesda! You've got my money... now what?
