Better than the current formula in the grocery store
I've never purchased this via Amazon, but we used to live in Waco, TX and were able to buy this at the Dr. Pepper Museum there (Dr. Pepper was invented in Waco). The glass bottles are the best, and the smaller size is perfect for a nice treat (they're about 100 calories each). This original recipe is better than what you buy in the store today - it has pure cane sugar as opposed to corn syrup, and you can taste the difference. Nice and crisp; a sharp sweetness that just can't be captured with corn syrup. I miss being able to drive a few miles to get this! We stocked up before we moved, but we've run out and are craving it :)I like how the big beverage companies are going "retro" and re-introducing their original tasty recipes with real sugar, and this is no exception. This is a great gift for yourself or a Dr. Pepper fan, because I don't think you can find it outside of Texas.

So, I grew up in Houston, and was weaned to Coca-Cola, which like every other respectable soda, was made with real cane sugar, Imperial even, because of the cane fields and processing plant SW of Houston. Think late 40s, early 50s timeline. Howard Hughes was brewing Grand Prize beer and Golden Age soft drinks in orange, grape and strawberry (which was called "Big Red" by my name-unconscious younger brother). All soda came in 6 or 8 ounce bottles, except Royal Crown (RC) Cola, whose big marketing ploy was a 12 ounce bottle - "Twice as much for the same price!" In the summer, we would visit our grandparents in Erath County, only 14 miles from the golden hub - the Dublin Dr Pepper Company. The neighborhood grocery sold Dublin DP, and my grandfather was very fond of it. If we wanted a Coke, we had to cross the street and buy it ourselves. Better than 1000% in a week. That maybe because I t is no longer made under that label. C'est la vie. It would still be around if the parent company did not think that the Dublin part was uppity and could not compete with them.I grew up with the podcast and drank the stuff before government mandates force sugar to be a second class citizen in soft drinks. I drank it cold, room temperature (whatever that is) and hot (stove heated.)I do like it but it was never on the top of my list as it reminded me of prune juice.FIY Coca Cola has similar issues.

hands down better than the mass produced stuff.....
The difference between high fructose corn syrup and suger is that sugar tastes natural and your body knows its limits. With high fructose corn syrup the opposite is true, it taste synthetic and the after taste is designed to leave you wanting more and it actually causes some issues for people, now the reason I started my review with a comparison of HFCS vs sugar is because no where is it more evident than regular dr peper vs dublin dr pepper. Many of the reviewers have said that this is heaven and while I won't go that far I can tell you with a 4 person taste test this stuff destroys the regular formula out on the market. To tell you how I know its simple, the 4 person taste test team took a regular super market can of dr. pepper(they don't make it in glass anymore) each poured out a small sampling 2 fl ounces, and tasted, each of us had the same prognosis, its way to carbonated and the flavor bites at the tongue, its almost like the tongue and the soda is having a fight and the soda...
