Fantastic
I discovered Ambrosia custard while in Ireland and absolutely love the subtle taste and smooth texture. Ambrosia is a great light dessert when looking for something with minimal sugar, and the taste better than Birds, imo. I would like to be able to purchase it in the aseptic boxes sold in the UK but am happy it's available at Amazon.

DELICIOUS!!!!!
A friend from England ordered this custard for me to try. He guaranteed me that I would really like this as I am very fond of custard, but rarely make it. He was right!!! It is the best custard that I have ever eaten. You will not be disappointed!!!

Interesting
I must admit my purchase was made out of curiosity not familiarity so my review is a "de novo" thing. This custard is wonderfully creamy but I was hoping for something a little more thick and the flavor is very mild. I would have preferred a little more depth of flavor. But since it was my first experience with this, what I got was probably exactly what the maker offered and the differences are on me.I like this but I don't *love* it. I'm going to have to try custard powder next.

Barb
Terrific with English Triffle. Beware though the pack of 6; each of the 6 containers makes about a gallon of pudding.

The true, the classic custard for authentic, yummy English trifle
After you've made the customary, authentic English trifle with Bird's custard powder you might not want to go back to the usual grocery-store pudding packages. I DID purchase a large quantity of Bird's custard power, the pack of six, but the packs have a longish shelf life, and I enjoyed sending a surprise pack/container to a friend who is originally from England. At Christmas, I will also include a container of Bird's custard powder to special relatives and friends so they can learn how easy it is to make excellent trifle with this product. For my non-English family and friends, I will include laminated instructions based on my own successes with Bird's custard recipe for trifle.English trifle is so easy to make with the following: Bird's custard powder, store-bought pound cake, thawed frozen fruit, some sherry wine (or slightly sweetened juice from the thawed frozen fruit) poured over the small slices of cake. For the final touch, add non-dairy whipped...

Bird's Custard Powder
I was unable to obtain the powder locally. The product was sent to me very quickly and enabled me to make a recipe my daughter brought back from Vancouver. It required this specific powder. The cookie bars were delicious!I am very grateful I could find it on the Amazon site. I would order similiar products without a minutes hesitation. N Nullmeyer

English Custard mix
We were stationed in England for 3 years and this Custard mix is the one most brittish people use. It is very authentic and very good. If you are planning on making Triffle for Christmas you really need to buy this. It says you can use water but I use milk to make it extra creamy and rich. Glad that I was able to find it here in the states.

Childhood Memories! Mmmm custard!
I remember when I was a child my mother always had Bird's Custard Powder in the pantry. She made a custard sauce for Christmas pudding or thicker and used it for trifle. The taste and texture if wonderful! Some things from your childhood are just as good as you remember only better! Love that you can sweeten it and make it as rich as you like to your own taste. The product is the same as I remembered only the packaging design has changed a little. Great product if you are allergic to eggs and can not eat regular custard made with eggs.

Customer Review

Thank YOU Amazon!!!
I love Jello Custard but haven't been able to find it in any grocery stores lately. I had friends around the country searching their stores too! One wrote to Jello to ask why it's so hard to find. She was told that Jello was no longer selling the Custard mix in stores because customers don't like taking the time to stir it until it reaches the boiling point. They do, however, sell it on their site to restaurants, etc in bulk. I went on their site to order some. The price was good but the shipping was outrageous so I didn't fill the order.I looked on Amazon and it showed they were out of it. Stupidly, I thought this meant that they wouldn't be getting anymore in. A week later, another friend told me it was back in stock on Amazon!!! I order a case of 24 at an excellent price (less than $1 a box - I was paying $2+ in grocery stores). Then, by simply buying an item worth $5, I got FREE shipping. I needed a new spatula so I bought that! The best part is,...

Remember Americana egg custard?
I remember my mom buying "Americana Egg Custard" mix in a brown box (Jell-O) when I was younger. As an adult, I gave up trying to find it in stores (it used to be by the tapioca)...but then I got pregnant and had a serious craving for it so I got online and researched until I found it on Amazon - and was happy to buy an entire case of it (only choice offered). Now I get to make it at home again and enjoy this creamy dessert from my childhood memories!

Jello Egg Custard Mix
I have made dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls using Jello Egg Custard Mix for many years and my family really likes them. Suddenly I could not find the mix here, but found some in other cities. Then I couldn't find any. Before Thanksgiving my son didn't like the idea of not having the rolls and went on Amazon and found the 24 box package. We were thrilled to find this item still available and were able to have our rolls as usual.

BUY Jell-O Cook & Serve Pudding & Pie Filling, Custard Dessert, 2.9-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 24)

Where Can I buy Custard

With eggs is called “Custard”  style. I wanted the ice cream to taste as delicious as possible, and since I was already sacrificing TWO traditional ingredients (coconut milk instead of cream, Truvia instead of sugar), I figured I should try to stay as close to normal in all other... Eggs provide a very nice texture, and keep ice crystals from forming (gelatin can also be added to prevent ice crystals). Half a cup is a decent amount of ice cream, and on a day where I am feeling particularly piggish I won’t feel guilty having a full cup, since that’s still only about 300 calories. I was recently inspired to buy an ice cream maker. I knew from the start that I wanted to make some version of Strawberry Coconut Milk ice cream. You can make ice cream with or without eggs. Ice cream that is made without eggs does not store well in the freezer and should be eaten right away.

I saw the pictures last night with a sense of dread, having seen it all before in the Gulf War, the Afghan War, the Gulf War again, and now we’re at war with Libya. I’ve just stood in the aisles and realised that a tin of Morrisons Value Custard (75 p) and left me with a dilemma: How low do I go.  . Sunday, 20 March 2011. Plus we still haven’t won the existential war on terror, and I’m not sure which side’s winning in the war on drugs, but I do stake a claim at coming out on top from the 90’s Supermarket bean wars. In search of the mythical Christmas mince pie offer to buy just one box or Mr Kipling’s and get two others free.

“A custard” does not just refer to the thick yellow stuff we know and love (well, I do anyway), an early modern custard is almost always referring to thick custard baked in a pastry case, we still have these today in the form of custard tarts... “A Custard Carbonado’d” is, to quote the OED, “A piece of meat or fish scored across and grilled over coals” which sounds like a very strange thing to do with a custard tart. Custards are referred to in many plays of the period, I’ve noticed that they’re often listed as part the menu of a banquet, seeming to bring with them connotations of richness, excess and courtly luxury. Heywood appears to have had a thing about custards – he mentions them, again in a list, in The Late Lancashire Witches (1634, written with Richard Brome):. A Custard Carbonado’d on the coales.
