Much, Much Better Than The US Version
I watched this to make a comparision between the US and Australian version, which used a much lower budget, and I prefer the Australian version. This is not as polished, dry and sarcastic, more mature themes and requires experience to fully understand (age). Most of the more "mature" comments would fly over the head of kids so it's not a crisis if they watch it; a man in a dog suit fully captures their attention. There's no graphic violence or action in it.This could be used as an example of a show that has not been watered down for US audiences and shows that have cost 10x's more to become "better than whatever else is on".This is a great show. I'm hunting down season 2 now (on DVD since 2010) ... somewhere. I'm concerned that it's so hard to get content made in other regions.

Sex and Dogs and Rock n' Roll
Well maybe not too much `rock'; this is an Australian comedy that was imported to Britain (and remade in the USA with 'The Hobbit' bloke) just to really prove our wacky sense of humour has grown somewhat differently down under, or has it?Well this is about a man Adam, who gets emotionally attached to Sarah, she has a dog who is the Wilfred in the title. Adam is apparently a bit depressed and so this gives him the power to see Wilfred as a man in a dog costume, this is never ever explained though. Everyone else treats him as a dog. The other thing he can speak (like Brian of `Family Guy') smoke joints, drink beer and generally act like the worst house guest in history. He also likes to sit up watching DVDs with Adam giving him life advice and arguing whilst mispronouncing words.Wilfred's primary function is to protect Sarah (and dig holes and go to the toilet a lot) and that means not trusting any of her lovers, he has been hurt in the past. So we go on a series...

An acquired taste
The premise of this show made me laugh. It did take me awhile to get into. The show did remind me a little bit of Flight of the Conchords in that it is very deadpan. Also I think that some people will hate it.Wilfred is well acted and generally well done. There were some great lines, scenes and comic situations. I was quite impressed that they didn't always go for the obvious jokes and didn't repeat themselves too much. Though sometimes I felt that they could have made more of them and for me at least it wasn't often laugh out loud funny.Overall I did enjoy watching it and it made smile quite often.

Excellent performance
This is truly an excellent performance. (Even my 3-year old granddaughter was fascinated by it.) The choreography, the dancing, the sets, lighting and costumes are all essentially flawless. The orchestra - under the baton of Noel Smith - is of high caliber, though the transfer of music onto videotape was done just a bit off speed, with the result that some sustained passages by the orchestral winds are marred by a slight 'bubble' in the sound. The camera work is some of the best to be found in the area of dance. It manages to capture the scope of the choreography while providing artistically-handled non-interruptive closeups so that we can perceive the humanness of the dancers as well as their interpretive skills.

For the "Coppelia" video
This is a really lovely performance that anybody would be pleased to watch. The dancers passess flawless tecnical ability and musicality they're last, precise and very expressive. The music is lively and buyant, the setting, stage props and costumes come straight out of the fairy-tale. The characters have a wonderful stage presence and manage to transfer us smoothly into the world of Franz and Swanilda. I believe the Australian Ballet deserves a big praise on this production, so I would give video 5 out of 5.

Coppelia
My daughter and I thouroughly enjoyed this production by the Australian Ballet. The costumes were beautiful and the dancing excellent. The acting , an important part of ballet that often gets forgotten, was wonderful and my five ear old could understand exactly what was going on. I'm planning to buy every video put out by the Australian Ballet as they are first rate.

42 Days, 16 people . . . One Survivor
I was never a fan of reality television, and to this day only watch two reality shows, Survivor being one of them. Thus, I watched only one episode of The Australian Outback when it was on television. The first contestant voted off, Debb Eaton, lived in the next town over from where I grew up, so I tuned in to see how she did and after that, didn't tune back. And now after watching this fantastic DVD set, I am disappointed I didn't keep watching. While I have seen only the three most recent seasons (All-Stars, Vanuatu and Palau) plus the DVD of the first season, I can understand why people who are big fans of this series consistently rank Survivor Australia as one of the best seasons ever. The perfect mix of people in a great environment led to a truly captivating series. The second season provided some very memorable moments, moments that can probably be included among the very best in Survivor history. Of course there is the famous beef jerky incident where...

MAYBE THE BEST SURVIVOR EVER
I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better season of Survivor than season number two. It not only had some of the most memorable contestants, but also some very memorable moments. This seasons would produce no fewer than five Survivor all-stars! I mean just look who was on season two from the Australian Outback:Amber Brkich, one of the hottest women ever on Survivor who would go onto win Survivor All-stars and now competing in the Amazing Race.Alicia Callaway: the Buff, brazen no-nonsense one who got into the famous finger waving match with Kimmi. A Survivor All-star.Michael Skupin, who suffered one of the worst injuries in Survivor history when he fell into a fire and badly burned his hands.Jerri Manthey: Probably the all time B*tch Queen of Survivor. Also a Survivor all-star.Colby Donaldson: The hunky runner-up now turned actor. Another Survivor all-star.Tina Wesson. The Winner. A Very HOT...

Still my favorite... after all these years.
Wow...this one takes me back. Has it really been four years since it aired? This is the season that really hooked me as a fan and has kept me watching to this day...even through some less than stellar seasons. Coming off the hot heels of the enormously successful Borneo; Survivor matured and solidified itself in Australia becoming one of the defining Reality Shows of all time.I remember this season as being so huge that I had to listen to every radio/TV talk show and commentary. I rooted for Colby, sympathized with Roger, and was glued to the set. I even became addicted to the website. I still have my "Survivor II Field Guide" with map and tribe bios. I was truly a Survivor junky and I didn't think I would be. I have to add that Jeff Probst excellent hosting skills were a big part of that.I think the other positive reviews have really expressed the same things I feel but I have to say that for fans of Survivor to get the feeling this season had for us, you...

My favorite film - Where's the DVD????
I wish someone would get this film onto DVD and soon!I saw this in the theater when I was a kid and thought it was wonderful. As an adult I enjoy it even more. It has never gotten the recognition it deserves.Usually these grumpy-old-man/too-cute-for-words-kid films are as annoying as all heck - but this one thoughtful and beautiful and not all corny.

Outstanding Highly Underated Movie
I first saw this film in the early 80's. It is filled with beutiful scenery, exotic animals and a wonderful story about an dying man with a fascinating past about which you only hear little bits, and a small boy he teaches not only how to survive in the wild but in life. While it is a very uplifting movie, it is interesting to note that the director of the film was dying of cancer in real life while filming was going on and created a very sad film with no redeming qualities. After he died, the actors returned and filmed a new and positive ending for no pay.In his biography, it says that William Holden and Ricky Schroder had a great relationship and Schroder named one of his sons Holden. It also says that because of this it was the only film in his later years where Holden stayed completly sober.I would highly recomend this film for families.

The Unmasking Of An Old Soul Through The Eyes Of A Child
I think The Earthling (1980) was one of the first movies I watched that I that I found to be a little life altering.Young Shawn Dailey (Ricky Shroeder) finds himself alone in the out back of Australia after his parents meet a tragic demise. Alone and completely unable to survive on his own, Shawn is cast into a world of complete shock and desolation. Also in the out back is a man named Patrick Foley (William Holden). Patrick has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and is returning to the place of his birth to die, a place completed secluded from civilization.Foley is a hard, almost bitter man that has lived a full life. He see's the distress Shawn is in but knows that there is no real way to help as the youngster is half out of his mind. Foley can't take him out of the wilderness as he himself would not survive the trip, there isn't enough time.Foley just can't abandon the boy so he repeatedly tries to give him instructions on how to...

Strong tool, good price
I bought this set at Petsmart for $50 for my long-haired rottweiler. Let's get one thing straight here - my rottweiler has THICK hair, about 3 inches long, and she's completely covered in dirt all the time. These clippers cut through her hair (I didn't give her a bath, so they cut through her dusty fir) with no problems at all! I got about 4 good uses out of these, then the blades finally went dull. I searched on the Andis website which is EXTREMELY helpful, they show you a list of blades that fit your clippers and you can buy from them or find a store that sells what you need. The replacement blades are about $16 for the horse/dog type ... I have to admit, I contemplated buying sheep clippers for my dog at one time. The motor runs the same as when I first bought it regardless of all the dirt and hair that has gone through it.I have to say that even spending $50 on these clippers is a good deal, since taking a dog to get groomed can be $40 or more each time! The kit comes...

Nice Clipper for the Right Jobs
I really like this clipper. I clip both our Scottie and our Standard Poodle at our home. The clipper works very well on the Scottie with no pre-clipping and great for the finish clip on the Poodle. I pre-clip the poodle with an Oster A-5 loaded with a rough-cut blade. I do not think this Andis clipper would hold up for primary use on a large dense coat. However, most clippers or their blades would struggle without a rough-cut on a heavy coat. I really like the numerous blade attachments and the clipper runs very quiet and free of vibration. It will heat with extended use, but not as quickly as some.

Great value and quality. Wish I had found this sooner.
A really nice kit. Great quality, and a great value. I have purchased several of the home kits over the years, and this is the first one I have liked after using it. It has plenty of power, and cuts very well. On matted hair, you'll of course have to use the scissors first, but then the clippers work fine. The assortment of guards is great. A really great value. Good feel to it while cutting, easy control. A really nice item.

Where Can I buy Australian Dvds

This right here I'm willing to bet will cause some of it. I already saw a lot of people state they'll buy the US DVD (I'm going to be one of them) and others are just pissed. I am sure if enough Adelaide people asked palace nova or mercury they'd probably put it on. I don't watch horror and my boyfriend who is in Ireland said its very gory, but saw was massive here so I don't understand it. Also Hemsworth is very... It baffles me that you would relegate one of the best reviews and well loved movies of the year straight to DVD. And is it really too much to expect that this film - from the guy who just wrote & directed one of the biggest box-office openers in NZ and Australian history and with NZ and Australian cast members - be released in a cinema. Like Drew Goddard's Cloverfield, it was a movie pretending to have something to say when actually delivering nothing more than the most generic example of the genre possible, concealed beneath a veil of subversion (in Cloverfield, visually echoing... As for the Whitford/Jenkins parts, they represent just another a blunt piece of symbolism (what they represent I won't spoil, obviously) whose key idea isn't exactly revolutionary, especially if you've even the faintest awareness of film theory. I've avoided every sort of spoiler/review for the film, wanting to go in as fresh as possible. How am I meant to enjoy a film if there are 100s of articles on websites that I visit on a daily basis that ruins it for me. The studios need to wake up to this and realise that they're just training the younger audience members to download. What is that saying about the genre, other than that the audience like seeing those clichés and the genre is happy to provide them, which is basically the same point. As if the release of this little film that could hasn't been tortuous enough already.   With "Cabin," I'm on the record already as being a pretty big fan of the film.
